A RETROSPECTIVE: CHATEAUNEUF DU PAPE IN TIME
Among all the wines from the south of France – we’re in Provenza, despite the wine-making region belongs to the Valle del Rodano – only those from Chateauneuf-du-Pape are capable of ageing in such a marvellous way, revealing only many years later, the most magical and unique characters of their terroir. In time they decline towards sensations which resemble those of some Brunello of Montalcino, which are not far from evolution of the most airy Barolo. Conserving a Mediterranean origin for heat, fragrances and pulp.
Tasting of eight grand Chateauneuf-du-Pape in time, lead by Francesco Falcone.

IN DEPTH STUDY: WINE-MAKING in ETNA by SALVO FOTI
After years of Sicilian reds and whites chained to a “monobloc” style, and in the long-run a bit tiresome, some of the critics and enthusiasts have discovered territories and producers that privilege the authenticity and essences, to a more “formal” concept of good. With Salvo Foti’s company, a true organizer of Etnean wine-making, and author of some of the most impressive Sicilian wines; we’ll deepen our knowledge regarding the terroir of the grand volcano. Black soil, age-old rows of vines at extreme altitudes, represent an authoritative exception in a region of big numbers.
Tasting of eight impressive wines from Etna, lead by Gianpaolo Gravina and also Salvo Foti.

A PREVIEW: BARBARESCO 2005
It’s known that the media uproar that each year interrupts the new vintages of Barolo and Barbaresco wines, hides behind it the complex shades that each harvest leaves in inheritance to the sensitive nebbiolo, and to the hands of those that cultivate and transform it. For this reason, the tastings at the preview will allow enthusiasts to enter into confidence with the character of the new millesimal: to carefully be able to read the “remarks”…
Tasting of eight Barbaresco 2005, lead by Alessandro Masnaghetti.

A RETROSPECTIVE: ARNEIS in TIME
Malvirà, Almondo and Correggia, in the company of their Roero Arneis. A selection chosen among some of the older vintages having survived an impatient and voracious market, that we’ll analyze the potential of the wine/vine still today considered less important. Capable, on the contrary of creating enthusiasm among the most demanding.
Tasting of nine Roero Arneis, guided by Francesco Falcone

A COMPARISON OF TERROIR: CHATEAUNEUF DU PAPE and BAROLO
Barolo and Chateauneuf-du-Pape, here there are no doubts: two grand “Lords” of worldwide wines challenge each other. Extraordinary denominations, spectacular vines, wines with an extremely high stylistics figure, engraved in the memories of the many tasters. The south of France on one side, and the north of Italy on the other. The grenache, impulsive and inconstant, tasty and fascinating, challenges the strong vigour of nebbiolo and its esteemed austerity. Both wines, however, live in the of shadow next to a miracle, that changes in time and awards with a flash of absolute class.
Tasting of four Barolo and four Chateauneuf-du-Pape, guided by Francesco Falcone

A PREVIEW: THE AMARONE OF VALPOLICELLA 2004
A different kind of wine is Amarone. The first time you taste it, it burns your chest just like when you’ve drank a liquor. Its warmth, volume and succulence make of it a unique wine, much imitated yet, inimitable. As the technique blends with a terroir of enormous value, and the technique without that terroir would lead to heavy monolithic wines. The most impressive Amarone are superb wines; they love ageing before letting themselves go altogether, but you may enjoy them when young, still bursting, when their character is still quick-tempered, explosive.
Tasting of eight Amarone della Valpolicella – classic and non – lead by Gianpaolo Gravina.
€ 15,00 - reductions € 12,00
